A Flexible Hybrid Learning Experience

Our learning model combines live monthly instruction, guided online learning, faculty support, and independent study. Students receive strong biblical and theological training while remaining active in their local church, ministry, family, and professional responsibilities.

Students are not required to attend physical classes every week. Instead, students participate in a scheduled monthly class session and continue their studies through the online learning platform for the remaining weeks of the month.

Each course is structured around

Monthly Class Schedule

Students are grouped by program level and category

To keep learning organized and easy to follow, each group meets on its own selected scheduled day of the month — not every week.

General Undergraduate & Master's

Associate, Bachelor, and Master’s students generally meet on selected scheduled Mondays of the month. Sessions may be held online or in person, depending on the course, instructor, student location, and academic schedule.

Doctoral Students

Doctoral sessions are designed for advanced theological reflection, research development, ministry leadership formation, academic writing, and dissertation or ministry project preparation.

International Students

Allows students in different countries and time zones, including Africa and other regions, to participate more effectively in live instruction and academic engagement.

How It Works

The Monthly Learning Cycle

Week 1

Live Class Session

Students attend their scheduled live class online or in person. The instructor teaches the main lesson, explains the monthly focus, gives direction for assignments, and answers questions.

Week 2

Reading and Study

Students continue with assigned readings, recorded materials, class notes, and study activities through the STU learning platform.

Week 3

Assignments & Ministry Application

Students complete written assignments, reflection papers, ministry-based activities, discussion responses, or other academic requirements.

Week 4

Review, Submission & Preparation

Students submit completed assignments, review the month’s material, prepare for any exams or assessments, and get ready for the next live session.

This model gives students structure without overwhelming them with unnecessary weekly class meetings.

Online Learning Platform

STU students receive access to the university’s online learning platform, where course materials, assignments, announcements, and academic resources may be provided.

Through the platform, students may access:

In-Person and Online Participation

Some students may attend certain sessions in person where available. Others may participate online, especially students outside the local area or outside the United States.

STU’s learning model is designed to serve both local and international students while maintaining academic order, spiritual formation, and ministry relevance.

Student Responsibility

Flexibility with discipline

Although STU offers flexibility, students are still expected to take their studies seriously. Flexibility does not mean lack of structure.

  • Attending scheduled live sessions
  • Completing weekly readings
  • Submitting assignments on time
  • Participating in class discussions where required
  • Checking the learning platform regularly
  • Communicating with instructors when help is needed
  • Maintaining academic honesty and spiritual discipline

Faculty Support

Guidance for every step

Faculty members provide instruction, academic direction, assignment guidance, and ministry-based support. The monthly learning structure also allows faculty to serve students across different programs in a more organized and effective way. This helps STU maintain quality instruction while accommodating the growing number of schools, programs, and students.

Designed for Ministry and Life

Many STU students are pastors, ministers, church workers, professionals, parents, and leaders. The model makes theological education accessible without removing students from the place of their assignment.
